LAPDO is working on the development of the carbon asset generated by the installation of Hydraid water filters in households of Bayelsa State, Nigeria. Hydraid water filtration project utilizing zero-energy bio-sand purification units for point of use application distributed in Nigeria. The filters replace the use of wood fuels for water treatment and in the alternative, alleviate situations of suppressed demands where raw water is consumed but would have been boiled in the absence of the project activities and prevailing energy poverty barriers.
The Hydraid filter is a simple, lightweight water treatment product produced by Cascade Engineering. Users can reduce biological contaminants by pouring surface or ground water through the filter to obtain water that is safe for drinking, food preparation, personal hygiene, and sanitation. More than 70,000 Hydraid filters have been distributed in over 45 developing countries worldwide. LAPDO has contributed to distributing more that 3000 Hydraid Filters in Nigeria.
