Over the years, LAPDO have worked with Vulnerable Children (VC) across Ondo State and Ekiti State. Some of the local Government covered include: Ekiti West, Ado-Ekiti, Ido-Osi, Ise/Orun and Oye LGAs in Ekiti State and in Akure North, Ondo East, Ifedore, Ile Oluji/Okeigbo LGA of Ondo State. LAPDO has succeeded in supporting VC with comprehensive care and support as well as educational and health care support from the funding received under the Global Fund, Round 5 & 9 for HIVAIDS/TB/Malaria and PACT/USAID projects. LAPDO has been involved in VC programming for over a period of 5 years and has consistently advocated for the erection of structures and formulation of policy that will enhance the life of OVC and provide opportunity for them to come out of their disadvantaged positions to become assets to their family, community, state and country. In the last 2 years, LAPDO has been able to reach over 4000 VC across the mentioned LGAs with direct support and referral to meet the children needs.
In implementing its VC programmes, the organization project team strategically conducts its VC activities to enable beneficiary access the 6+1 minimum care package through direct impact mitigation combined with referral as the case may be, while the monitoring and evaluation unit ensure compliance of VC activities to the National Plan of Action (NPA) and gather data using tools that fits into the nationally approved reporting format. LAPDO ensure that VC in its care are exposed to adequate care and is conversant with the ethical issues in caring for VC. The organization has a Child Protection Policy that staffs and volunteers subscribe to and which form the fulcrum of ensuring that our work is totally focused on the best interest of the child.
