LAPDO seek collaborations with stakeholders on #shunviolenceinondoelection2019” campaign.

The Executive Director of LAPDO in person of Mr. Franklin Oloniju introduced LAPDO team to the stakeholders. He said LAPDO is a non-governmental organization that has been working on elections since the advent of democracy in Nigeria. The organization has worked with INEC during the 2015 general elections and the governorship elections in Ondo state.  He said LAPDO with support from Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room is implementing a project titled “Enhancing increased participation of women and people with disability in the 2019 general elections in Ondo state. The goal of the project is to increase the participation of women, PWDs and other vulnerable populations in the 2019 general election processes in Ondo state. LAPDO campaign focuses on peaceful elections with the theme “#shunviolenceinondoelection2019”. He also informed them about the One Day State-Level Stakeholders Peace Dialogue that will be held on the 31st of January 2019 to enable them collectively agree on a peace accord and sign the peace accord towards a violent free elections in Ondo state. He also made them to realize that LAPDO will recruit and train 40 election observers that will observe elections in the 10 focal L.G.As in Ondo State. The recruitment will be done through online application submission using this link He further said LAPDO will carry out community awareness campaign on the #shunviolenceinondoelection2019 in the three senatorial district of Ondo state – (Ondo Central, Ondo North & Ondo South).

Lastly, the E.D also intimate them about the radio program on Orange F.M which will last for eight weeks starting from 10th January to 28th February 2019. He said the program will feature leaders of the various opinion groups visited to sensitize the people on violent free elections. The radio program will be between 3 – 4pm on Thursdays. The stakeholders visited include:

  • Chairman Christian Association of Nigeria – Rev. Dr. John Ayo Oladapo

The CAN chairman reiterated fact that they are major stakeholders and they preach godliness, good behavior and forthrightness in their various members churches. He express their readiness to work with LAPDO in her #shunviolenceinondoelection2019 campaign. He also used the medium to inform LAPDO that CAN is having an interactive session with all aspirants in the general elections from 9th January 2019 at St. David Cathedral Ijomu between 9am to 10am. He said this forum will afford the Christian faithful in Ondo State to ask the aspirant questions about their agenda, plans and manifesto for the people. He encourage LAPDO for the visits and pledge CAN support for the #shunviolenceinondoelection2019 campaign

  • Iyaloja of Akure – Chief Mrs. Bola Olojugba

She pledge her support for the program and vow to continually sensitize women on the need for peaceful election in Ondo state. She said she is ready to work with LAPDO on the situation room project and ensure that women vote for the candidates of their choice and shun vote buying.



  • Commissioner of Police Ondo State – Mr. Olugbenga Adeyanju

The Commissioner of Police  appreciated LAPDO for their service to humanity and pledge support for the program. He however encourage LAPDO to work more on ensuring that the chairman of N.U.R.T.W Ondo should be properly sensitized and ensure that they are equally represented in the outlined program above as they too are major stakeholders in the forthcoming general elections. He assured LAPDO of the unrelenting efforts of the Nigeria police Force in making sure the election is violent free while any apprehended violators of electoral laws will be brought to book.

  • Joint Association of Persons with Disability in Ondo State Excos – Pastor Adeola Elisha Olowola

    The association appreciated LAPDO initiative and pledged their support for the project and vow to take ownership. They however request for more of their members to be selected as election observers and wish that they have an observer selected for each of the L.G.A. (10). They said the association consist of five groups which are Ago Ireti (Leprosium), physically Challenged, Association of Deaf, Association of Blind and Association of Albino. They said they have some trained observers among them and have been involved in the previous election processes in the state. The secretary in person of Mr. Abiodun Samuel Olusegun plead with LAPDO team to ensure that they are maximally represented in the various LAPDO election activitie
